Bahrain is a sovereign island state located off the coast of the Persian Gulf. With its multicultural past and oil wealth, it has become one of the biggest tourist attractions in the East, and a must-see among all cruise excursions.
With over 1.5 million inhabitants, Bahrain will surprise you with its modern Arab culture in perfect contrast to its five thousand years of civilisation. It’s wonderful to wander among the many UNESCO World Heritage buildings, such as the National Museum, which contains remains and artefacts more than 9000 years old, and is close to the famous Al-Fateh Mosque (one of the largest in the world). For shopaholics, the capital Manama offers colourful souks alongside luxurious shopping and business centres, such as the Bahrain World Trade Center.

Let yourself be transported back in time without leaving the 21st century. The welcoming people of Bahrain will become an unforgettable souvenir of your adventure, and our tour is the perfect complement to your cruise!

Itinerary

Arrival of the ship. The guide will be waiting for you at the exit of the terminal with the sign “Excursions for Cruisers”.
During the tour you will visit the following sites:

– Al-Fateh Grand Mosque: This is one of the largest mosques in the world. It covers 6,500 square metres and can accommodate more than 7,000 people. It was built in 1987 and named Ahmed Al Fateh after the conqueror of Bahrain. The large dome at the top of the mosque is constructed entirely of fibreglass, weighs 60 tons and is the largest fibreglass dome in the world; the marble used on the floor is Italian and the chandelier is from Austria.

– National Museum of Bahrain: This is the largest and one of the oldest museums in the country. It has a rich collection of archaeological artefacts and covers approximately 6,000 years of Bahrain’s history.

– Photo stop at the Bahrain World Trade Center: Consists of 2 twin towers each 240 meters high (50 floors). These buildings were the first to integrate wind turbines into their design.

– Royal Camel Farm: The farm is home to a large number of camels, both large and small, and you can take pictures with them and sometimes feed them.

– Muharram Souk: A very cosy old souk, full of old buildings. With a wide range of goods and jams. Its star sweet is Halwa, which is still made in the traditional way in huge copper pots in the same way as it has been for the last couple of centuries. The recipe uses butter, sugar and water which is boiled for long periods of time, then flavoured with rosewater, cardamom, saffron and decorated with almonds, pistachios and other nuts.

– Panoramic view of King Fahad Causeway: King Fahad Causeway is a combined bridge and viaduct connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Construction began in 1981 and was completed in 1986. It has four lanes and is 26 km long.
